PROBBA
The Grand Annual Ball
37th Edition
The night every Baba talks about for years
Once a year, the studying stops, the overalls come off, and everyone dresses up. The Grand Annual Ball, GAB, to those who've been counting, is Probba's oldest and most celebrated tradition.
It is the evening that marks the year, the room where old friendships reconvene and new ones solidify over a three-course dinner, and the party that, if everything goes right, nobody will be entirely able to reconstruct the morning after.
We are now thirty-seven editions in. The format has stayed close to what it has always been, because some things don't need fixing only the venue, the band, and the year on the invitation change.
Here's what it looked like last October:

From Mikkeli to Otaniemi: a new stage for an old tradition
For thirty-five years, GAB found its home in Mikkeli. The venue changed now and then, from intimate halls to the grand stage of Mikaeli, the city's concert and events centre, but the spirit was always the same: a small, tight community dressing up together in a city that had quietly become theirs.
The 37th Grand Annual Ball is something new. With the programme making its home in Otaniemi, this year's GAB steps into a wider world: Helsinki, the archipelago, a city that stays lit well past midnight. The tradition travels with us intact, the dinner, the speeches, the Sillis, the band, the whole beloved structure, but for the first time in Probba's history, we bring it to the capital. Thirty-seven years in the making. One very good excuse to get dressed.
In the meantime, you have exactly this many days until 30.10.26 to find something to wear:
